What are the changes?

All candidates will be asked two questions on vehicle safety, one will start with ‘SHOW ME’ and the other will start with ‘TELL ME’, if one or both questions are answered incorrectly this will result in one driving fault being recorded. Remember, you are only allowed 15 minor faults on your driving test.

Please read below for examples of some of the questions that may be asked.

Open the bonnet and identify:

  • Where would you check the engine oil level and tell me how you would check that the engine has sufficient oil.
  • Where the windscreen washer reservoir is and tell me how you would check the windscreen washer level.
  • Where the brake fluid reservoir is and tell me how you would check that you have a safe level of hydraulic brake fluid.

Tell me how you would check that the:

  • Brake lights are working on this car.
  • Tyre's to ensure that they have the legal amount of tread and that there condition are safe to use on the road.
  • The power assisted steering is working before starting a journey.

Show me how you would check:
