How do I apply for the theory test?
You can apply for a theory test appointment by telephone on 0870-0101372. You will need a credit card or debit card number for payment. Or you may make an application by post, forms are available from Driving Test Centre's or from your Instructor. You may also apply online on the website at www.driving-tests.co.uk
How much does it cost?
The price of the test is £28.50
When do I have to take the test?
You may study for the test whilst going through your driving tuition but you must pass it before an application for the practical driving test can be made.
What will I need to take with me when I go for the theory test?
When you attend the test you will need to produce your provisional driving license, please ensure that it is signed. If you have an older style license you will need to take some form of identification with a photograph and signature on it. If you do not have any of these items you will not be allowed to take the test and you will lose your fee.
How long does the test last for?
The theory test lasts for forty minutes and is completed on a touch screen computer. The test comprises of thirty-five multiple choice questions, you must answer thirty questions correctly to pass the test.
The hazard perception part of the test comprises of a selection of films showing real road scenes with potential hazards. You will be assessed on how soon you see any of the dangers on the clips.

Books and CD-Roms are available from Andy's School of Motoring, from most High Street bookshops or from the DSA.
